Coach Shula and Team,
I wanted to take a few minutes to write ya'll and congratulate you on how the season is going. I have tried to follow you as closely as possible, and have not been able to watch a game yet but have kept up through newspaper articles and the programs the athletic department has been gracious enough to send me. I did however get an email of Prothro's catch, amazing. I wanted to take a few minutes of your time to write you and let yourself and the team know how much College Football really means to people, and how much this country should mean to your players. Hopefully, you will be able to share this with the team in some capacity, and if not just give them my best.
I came to Alabama in the fall of 2000 with the hopes and dreams of playing time and a national championship ring. You all know how the story goes. During my four years we had four coaches and a 24-25 record, and as for me personally I didn't accomplish everything I had hoped for but wouldn't trade my experience and the friends I made in Tuscaloosa for anything. I joined the Marine Corps Officer Program as soon as I graduated in May of 2004. Many thought I was crazy for giving up Law School or a good job to do it, but I truly believe in this country and felt it was something I had to do. I still remember 9-11 like it was yesterday, coming up to practi ce and watching the TV as they showed the planes crashing into the World Trade Center over and over. We were suppose to play Southern Miss that week, and I recall being so angry that I wanted to leave school that afternoon to enlist and go fight. Four years later I am now serving with 3rd Battalion 6th Marines India Company as an Infantry Rifle Platoon Commander in charge of about 60 Marines over in Western Iraq. It is truly a war zone over here, as not a day goes by where we don't get shot at or IED'd in some capacity. It seems like every day we lose another Marine. It doesn't seem fair that 18year old kids have to die before they get a chance to really live, but no one complains here or asks for sympathy. This is something that every single one of us chose to do for one reason or another. All of my Marines enlisted during a time of war and cho se to do Marine Infantry, which is as front lines as you get on the battlefield, we knew what we were asking for and we have certainly got it.
You have no idea how much college football means to the Marines over here. Nearly everyone has a team they follow and almost use it as their identity. Each week I have Marines coming up to me and telling me the score and how good ya'll are playing. They want to know all about each of you. "Who's the fastest, the strongest, the biggest?" "Does Brodie get all the girls? What is Coach Shula like? What was it like to play there?" I respect all of you for not only having the ability to play major college football, but also just having the fortitude to stick with it. I know it is not always the easiest thing to do, but like Coach Bryant used to say if it was easy everyone would do it. Looking back on my career there that is really one of the few things I can hang my hat on is that I simply never quit.
In closing I want to wish you well on the rest of the season. My Dad mailed Alabama hats to everyone in my platoon, so remember you have a lot of people pulling for you even in Iraq. I know sometimes it can be disgusting how serious some fans take football, but the truth is it really does mean a lot to people, everyone needs something to root for, especially over here. Finally, I want to leave you with this. I believe is this country, I believe it is worth fighting for no matter what the cost. There are a lot of young men over here that have made sacrifices that you can't begin to understand in order to be here to fight for you and your families back home, so that you can live in a place where 90,000 people can go watch a football game on Saturday afternoon and have something to cheer about. T hey ar e all proud to do it, and ask nothing in return. I just want all of you to be grateful for the opportunity you have, and not to waste it because the truth is no matter what your beliefs are young men are dying day in and day out to give their fellow Americans a chance to make a better life for themselves. We have a quote that hangs about the Marines barracks by George Orwell that says, "People sleep peaceable in their beds at night because rough men stand ready to do violent things on their behalf." Take care of each other, be proud to be an American, and enjoy the good days because the bad ones will come. I am sending ya'll a flag just as a reminder of what our country stands for. I hope you will find a place to put it, and that it makes you as proud as it makes me. So next time the star spangled banner plays, do me a favor and stand a little straighter, stick your chest out a little further, and take a second to remember what it means to be an American, then go kick someone 's ass for me.

Start my day!

Yesterday after work I went to see Mom,she is doing really well.
Today starts with a new adventure,Jimmy went back to Goodyear to work for a few weeks,after being retired 8 years I believe it will be a challenge.He needs some money for fencing the pasture,andGod provided this way for him to do just! Thank you !God.

I'm just different,we all are,and if we are honest we all should be.We all have different beliefs,ideas,and dreams,and we should realize that mine and yours are not the same.We should be able to speak these things without anyone taking offense gives us our tasks to do in different measures and times,just as God gives gifts,these are not all at the same time or to the same degree.
Things are really taking shape in the world,just as all the news would say it's in terrible rubble,but I say not because it is all in God's controll.I know God so ,I know the one in controls rest and know that My Father has it all in his control,in his time.Laugh! because the enemy has no control on you unless YOU allow it.

Yesterday!
Was a great day.Shayla had meetings in Birmingham ,so I tagged along. There is a Michael's Craft Store close by,so she left me there.Now,you might say how long can you look in a store,well me a pretty long time,and usually she doesn't give me enough time.I do my own greeting cards and it takes alot of time to put the papers and stamps and things needed together.I had a little over 2 hours ,yeah. I got everything needed,and most of it was own sale,I also make jewelry,so I spent a small time in that section.I gave a quick glance through the floral dept ,as I do my own arrangments.Shayla and I had 2 classes in this at Gadsden State.
IT'S LUNCH TIME,we wanted to eat at "The Chocolate Biscuit",but it wasn't open.We found this neat coffee house ,the food was good.
Yesterday was Mother's birthday, so we left Trussville,for the Crossville Nursing Home.Presents and cake and had a good time .Mother was 89 yesterday.She is doing really well.
She sent me to kitchen for coffee to have with her cake .

God has a set time......
to answer our prayers.Sometimes He moves suddenly,but usually He has to prepare us for the changes.Often He'll start by loosening our grip on a career that provided security,a home we love and invested in,a relationship we considered long-term,and sometimes all these things at once.Then He gives us the passion to pursue fresh interests,and before long we're thinking"Hold on,These dreams will never be fulfilled where I am sitting right now," Therefore the desire for change takes root!
Then comes the waiting.Why ?Because it takes time for change to produce the maximum benefit.During this time God begins,healing our past so it can't pollute our future,expands our knowledge so we'll be better prepared,developes our character.We know God says the time will come,we don't appreciate His timing until the dust settles.If we just allow God to direct our lives in all areas ,we will get only the best,because He knows the beginning and end.We also have to sometimes turn a deaf ear to the outside world and advice of well meaning friends and family.

The News Story!
Channel 13 news were in Glencoe Tuesday about the church vandalism ,Yes! David I'm linked.One of my clients Margrette was on her way to salon,and they stopped her and asked her about the church thing,she relied that she had been in georgia and wasn't aware of it,but to follow her to her hair salon that"Those ladies know everything".They did and we were on live at 5 channel 13.Neat right!They left their card and cell number,and said they thought we should call them if we had any human interest stories.They thought we were "Pretty"interesting.The next day one of our clients that's a state trooper was getting a cut,and some of the clients thought "What now"?

The Last Two weeks have brought some sadness,and questions to this road of life.Last week a guy Shayla went to school with was killed in a car accident,Doug Riley.This week another classmate Jason Landers died at his home.Please pray for these families both young men left small children.

Surprise Saturday!
My surprise was a trip to Atlanta! First to Pell City and the thrift store! Oh my,then to Atlanta ,to experience authenic Brazilian steak."THE FIRE OF BRAZIL"restaurant is a host of gaucho clad waiters serving choice cuts of grilled Angus,beef,chicken,lamb,pork,and sausage.All roasted slow over open flame.seasoned to perfection,and brought to you on large spits and carvered at you table. You have a card green on one side that says"sim por favor' meaning,yes please,and the other side is red saying"nao obrigado" meaning no thank you if your card is on green they bring you meat,if it's on red they don't,they also have an extravagant salad bar.It is all you can eat .They also serve you a order of fries and fried banana's.The price 22.50.After stuffing ourselves beyond moving we went to the Atlanta Botanical Garden.It is so beautiful.The orchids take your breath away .Now,you would think that was all, we went to this hand made candy and gift shop,and had 2 pieces.Now on to home. What a decadent experience!Thank you Shayla our dutch treat experience to Atlanta was wonderful .

My Child,
Shayla was born July 12 1971, to this not very mature, scared of everything,lot of excess baggage girl of 22 years.I've already told you about myself,so you can see what Shayla lived through,and I believe my not going back to work until Shayla was 4 and then Mother came to live with us,gave Shayla a foundation.Shayla was a good baby,great child,andreally good teenager.Shayla has always believed and I hope that life and hard disapointments hasn't changed her,that if you do right,treat people fair,and work hard,life will reward hard work,well we all that are older know you can't always depend on others to do right{ even so called God fearing others},or that what you know is better than who you know,and yes honesty is the best policy,but not always for others.Shayla being an only child has not made her selfish,I've seen her turn around on the highway to try to help someone,or run out of her office to give a person in need her last 5 dollars.She is resourceful and talented,she can draw anything ,make anything and take someone elses junk and make it beautiful.She searches goodwill and thrift stores,yard sales,and peoples throw aways,and dresses like a designer,and her home is a work in progress to behold.I am very proud how God has used and continues to use her.When you look at her don't judge her on how she looks,and ask her if she is an only child and commit " It figures" you don't have a clue.I'm very proud of Shayla as everyone is proud of their child,but she has been my greatest gift God has given me except for Jesus dying for my sins.I am blessed to have her as my child and best friend.I pray she will continue with her dreams and let God be her guide,and pray for people who think that they are"Holier"than others!I'm not mad or bitter just want to set the picture in place.She maybe a only child,but her heart is big as if she came from a big family. God bless those that judge others,and forgive them for hurting others.Help us to forgive.

Does anyone ,besides me think January is a long month? After New Years not much excitement. I urgently needed a few days off work, but I knew the Boss would not allow me to take a leave. I thought that maybe if I acted "CRAZY" thenhe would tell me to take a few days off. So I hung upside down on theceiling and made funny noises. My co-worker (who's blonde) asked me what I was doing? I told her that I was pretending to be a light bulbso that the Boss would think I was "CRAZY" and give me a few days >off.A few minutes later the Boss came into the office and asked "What areyou doing?"
I told him I was a light bulb.He said, "You are clearly stressed out. Go home and recuperate for acouple of days."
I jumped down and walked out of the office.

I don't like talking about myself , so maybe I need to.I believe I 've already told some facts.I was born in March 30 1949 To Obed Edward Brock and Gladys Odell Whitt Brock.My Grandparents were James Westley Whitt and Nancy Rebecca Stone Whitt,and Charles Homer Brock and Rada Giles Brock.I Have one Sister Katrena Carolyn Brock Price.She is 7 years older.. married to Donald Edward Price.They two sons,Steven Craig,Michael.I went to Sardis High School.We were medium income,about like everyone else,certainly closer to poor than wealthy.My father worked for L&N Railroad,and was only home on weekends.I was a daddy's girl,my sister Moma's baby.Daddy had an accident in 1969,and my heart has a empty spot ever since.I lived with only a driveway between me and the school,and across the street and down the street a short distant Was Sardis Baptist Church where I attended Church.The Principle and pastor lived across the street and my father was good friends with both.I was not afraid of either like most because they were at my house often.My best friend........to be continued.

Nice day Jan 18, An old friend has moved back from Florida,and I allowed extra time at the salon for her appointment.Tracy bought a friend with her and I always add extra appointment time for new clients to get to know them and what they expect their hair to look like and what can realistally be acomplished,there is a difference.It was so pleasant and Tracy's friend Kelli is a professional Dog trainer,and as I love dogs that was of interest to me.Tracy has developed several serious heath conditions and needs our prayer.I explained to them I attend Vineyard and described how much I love it.When they left that said that would visit,we will see.As I'm writing I just realized I have two Tracy's that have moved back from Florida,both went to high school at Glencoe.Tracy Garrison is the one I saw yesterday,Tracy Christian is the other,both needs prayer.All in all God is in control and I prayer I continue to be his instrument!

Yesterday was sad!
I thought yesterday being an off day,and I really didn't have alot to do,that it would be a quite restful day.Jimmy and his friend David were building on the Barn,so I cooked them a nice lunch,so after they ate and I cleaned the kitchen,I took what vegetables were left to feed to Jake: Jimmy's Dog,he had rescued Jake about four years ago.Jake and Jimmy were the best buddies.Jake was happy about the food and running and playing as they worked on the Barn.I decided to get on the computer awhile,when Jimmy came in all upset,you see Jaked had been hit by a car,and killed.You see one minute things were happy and good and then it was horrible.That's just how life goes.Jake will be remember for being a very special friend.Jake! we love you!

Sunday! It was a great church service! Today, after work,Jimmy and I are going to Crossville Nursing Home to see Mom.My sister informed me yesterday she was having some problems with swelling in her legs . I talked to her Nurse last night,while a client was under the hairdryer;She thought the swelling was better.God is in control and I know he will care for her.
Oh ! On another note,Jimmy started the barn wed. It was about 8:30 when I got home last night,but looks like he got a lot of the frame work done. Can't wait to get the horses moved,you see we rent the pasture across the street.Oh you should know we are expecting two babies in March! Coco is due March 17,Sara the 26. Hope all goes well.See ya.

Greating Real!
There's one thing that, more than anything, will cure the tendency we all have to appear like we have it all together when we don't, and that would be a close relationship. You just can't fake it with a real friend.
I wish we didn't have to do this to ourselves. We just don't seem to be able to let go of this need to look like we are better than we are. We walk on water. We have perfect children. God and us are just like this... Humbug.
Here's what we all know, but rarely take advantage of: You can fool some people, but you can't fool everybody; and the ones you can't fool are your best friends. (I suppose you could turn that around and say if you are successfully fooling everybody, you probably don't have any close relationships, and if that's the case, you might want to do something about that.)
So let's stop boring each other with our supposedly perfect lives, and get down to the godly business of having and being friends who really care!

Thank God it's Friday! Friday's at the salon is hectic,as always something is always going on .I have worked 3o of my 38 years with Shirley Roden.We know probably everything there is to know about each other.We're friends,family,co-workers.We can give different looks to each other and without saying a word get our point across.We view life completely different,Shirley sees her cup 1/4 full and that spilt,a mess to clean up. I see my cup 3/4 full with a ginger cookie on the side,eternal optimist that's me! This friendships works and I am blessed .I will get ready and see what great adventure is in store for today!

Keep Chasing God, Your Dreams! Chasing God, Your Dreams; shouldn't they be one and the same! I remember in younger days I chased happiness, Hummm maybe My idea of Happiness. I had the secret and power all along, or since I had accepted Jesus, but I trusted my own ability. This pursuit led me off in all sorts of wrong avenues. I married very young. This sweet, young boy had no idea what 4 years of marriage to me would be like. He was supposed to be the answer. Wrong avenue one. Second turn would have been right avenue, but things came up. Shayla's Dad was everything at the time I needed, but when I was 5 months along with Shayla he was hit by a car in Atlanta. He was in critical care 42 days, had no memory of me at all, his personality changed, and I became his friend. When Shayla was 3, my mother came to live with us. I had gone back to work to support us and mother was to take care of home, and Shayla. I worked from 8 until 8 or later. Dude and I divorced when Shayla was 7. Curve and mountains and valleys staight ahead marriage divorce 3. (You realize I am condensing this way down to almost an outline.) John had problems, if possible, more than I had. Our marriage lasted 6 years. Well,I really needed a map, God was there all along ,but what can I say. At this point Shayla takes over,I had not done well in this pursuit! ***In 1984 I met Jimmy kell,after 364 day's we Marry ,in May 1991 after alot**** we divorce! Shayla and I move into Forrest River apartments 3 months later Jimmy tells me God has taken drinking away from him.I listen because he would not say so if it wasn't true.We remarry a few months later,after a few years and much prayer,yes I did pray before remarry,I have a very good marriage to the man I believe I am suppose to be with.I love him and am gladI took that journey,I left out alot but one thing I must tell is about Shirley Roden we have been friends and partners 30 years,oh that's another chapter.

About myself hummmm,The beginning .I was born in 1949,there I said it,To A christain woman and man.mother gave me a strong Bible foundation ,that has help me survive many wrong choices I have made.I lived beside my Mother's parents and down the road where my father's parents and two sets of Aunts And uncles.Sardis at that time was a small town and everyone knew everyone forever.My father drowned in 1969,and that as with many things change me.I was most completely "A DADDY'S GIRL",so different from my Mother and sister.My sister and I are not close!God blessed me although I didn't deserve it with the most wonderful thing that has ever been given to me,"A DAUGHTER" ; she is a rare jewel that words fail me ,when I try to describe her.Next I'll try to describe the daughter raises the mother.
